WEAM
Shining Light on Women's Talent
Women Employment Awareness Month is an annual March initiative in Canada, designed to connect employers, policymakers, service providers, and stakeholders with diverse career women, to address income gaps, under‐representation in leadership, workplace barriers, and limited entrepreneurship support.

WHY WEAM MATTERS
EMPLOYEES &
JOB SEEKERS
ENTREPRENEURS
-
Women in Canada earn approximately 89¢ to every $1 a man earns—worse for Black women, women of colour and Indigenous women.
-
Women are overrepresented in precarious, part-time, and lower-paying roles.
-
Despite high educational attainment, many women face career discontinuity due to caregiving and workplace inequity.
-
Women-led firms receive a smaller share of VC/digital economy investment.
-
Female entrepreneurs are less likely to access business loans and growth capital.
EMPLOYERS &
BUSINESS OWNERS
-
Companies with gender-diverse leadership perform better financially and are 25% more likely to outperform industry median.
-
Employers face a tightening skilled-labour market—WEAM supports access to untapped female talent.
