About the Company

Immigrant Champions of Canada (ICC) is a non-profit organization committed to promoting the integration of immigrants into Canadian society by connecting them to resources and opportunities that enable them to thrive. ICC is currently seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Board of Directors as volunteer members, specifically, individuals from Calgary and Edmonton.

About the Role

As a volunteer Board Member, you will be responsible for guiding the strategic direction of the organization and providing oversight to ensure that ICC is meeting its mandate. This will involve attending regular Board meetings (virtually or in-person), participating in committees and subcommittees, and actively contributing to the organization's fundraising and outreach efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

Attend and actively participate in regular Board meetings and committee meetings
Provide guidance and oversight to ensure that ICC is meeting its mandate and adhering to its policies and procedures
Contribute to the development and implementation of the organization's strategic plan
Participate in fundraising and outreach efforts, including identifying potential donors and partners and supporting fundraising events and campaigns
Act as an ambassador for the organization, representing ICC in the community and advocating for the needs of immigrants in Canada

Requirements

  • Strong commitment to ICC's mandate and values, with a passion for supporting immigrants and fostering community integration

  • Previous experience serving on a Board of Directors or similar leadership position is an asset

  • Experience in accounting, fundraising, marketing, community outreach, advocacy or partnership relationship building is desirable

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a team and to build strong relationships with stakeholders

  • Familiarity with the local immigrant community in Calgary or Edmonton is an asset

  • Ability to commit to attending regular Board meetings and contributing time and effort to fundraising and outreach activities
